we pulled into Chicago at about 11am and by 2pm we still weren't at the venue. our bus is 13 feet tall and there are no bridges that tall on the west side of Chicago apparently, so we spent 2 hours trying to find a route that our bus could travel. a cop finally took one of our guys around and found a bridge we would fit under....good heavens....
in any case, we got loaded in and had an uneventful show, but the kids seemed to like it. the show was at a rather unique venue, called the aragon....i believe they shot the paramore dvd there.
i have been in an odd but productive mood as of late, we hired another backline tech, and that has taken a considerable load off of me. i feel free to be the best i can be finally, and i think it is showing. i was up until last week, the only back line tech out for my band, and it was a handful. we have 15min to reset the stage between our band and others, and it proved to be impossible for me to do. i am only one man, and as skilled as i am...i don't have 8 arms.
this tour is going pretty smooth, and i am glad to be on it, i don't feel challenged by the universe every time we have a show.
after the show my tour manager and i went for some sushi, and it was pretty good. i dont always get to eat the best out here, and for some reason, sushi feels healthy. i should make a more concerted effort to eat better, but, fat is so good.
sis provided me with some chocolate when i got to the bus....that was a miracle, i love chocolate.
now i am in my bunk and tired, i hate cold and the mid west is certainly that.....thank god for the south.
in any case it is time to catch some rest. a security guard joked with me tonight about going out and "partying" i joked back and said i needed to go to bed. they replied that i was too young to turn in early, and i said, 'early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise'
i like that thought the more i think about it.
not that i think is perfectly true, but its an awesome concept.
