when worlds collide

i wake up often in a strange place, a hotel, a bus parking lot, always a different city. i cant help but think that my mind moves as well. there are people i meet that i never quite lose inside, and waking up i still remember them quite vividly. it is a gentle reminder in the middle of a long tour that i am connected, like so many other things in this universe. connected in ways i will never understand.

i was connected to this new job when i got it. i am connected to this festival we are doing today. today is july 4th and its going to be a long and busy day. a good day, but a long one.

i follow Rev. Run on twitter and he often says the most uplifting things. he speaks a lot about memory and moving forward and conquering your goals. it is a mixed blessing to have such a strong memory, it is sweet to feel close to things all the time. i have a huge problem with people who are always trying to forget. we were meant to connect, it is in our nature, we connect in new ways with our technology and our words and our faces everyday.
sometimes we connect in such strong ways that we dont recognize it or we chose to ignore it.

as paul simon once said "i am a rock, i am an island"
noone is truly one of those.
and this morning when i woke up, i felt very strongly so.
